About The Scattered Flock
For people who left the church but did not stop searching.
The Scattered Flock is a place for people who are spiritually displaced—people who no longer trust the structure they came from, yet still long for fellowship, meaning, truth, family, and community.
There is a difference between leaving a church and abandoning the search for God. Many people have done the first because they could no longer pretend that their questions did not matter.
What this is
The Scattered Flock is a clearinghouse. Its purpose is to gather research, make difficult questions easier to explore, and eventually help individuals and small groups find one another locally.
What this is not
It is not a church. It is not a denomination. It is not an attempt to create another class of preachers or pastors. It is not designed to collect a flock under one person's authority.
What we hope to see
We hope to see homes become places of fellowship again. We hope to see people study without fear. We hope to see lonely people find trustworthy friends. We hope to see families strengthened by wider communities of people who actually know one another.
Family
Healthy community should strengthen households and give people a wider circle of practical care and belonging.
Community
Small groups can cooperate without surrendering themselves to centralized religious control.
A note to someone who is hurting
Leaving can be lonely. It can also be the first quiet step toward rebuilding your life on honesty. You do not need to have every answer today. Begin with one good conversation, one trustworthy person, one question you are willing to examine carefully, and one place where you can be yourself without pretending.
