The Idea of the Scattered Flock was multi-faceted. For one, as you’ve read on the main page, it was about giving Believers a place to call their own. But it was so much more than just that.
In the 1980’s a little place opened up in our town. It wasn’t called a church, it was called a Christian Center. They didn’t hold services, they had discussions. I learned more in a day in that place, than in years in a church. Where a church is there to entertain you, make you feel good, and walk away energized… a Christian center is there to help you learn, examine your faith, and become the strongest Christian you can possibly be. It’s there for you.
So over the years, I’ve missed that fellowship, the friends I made, and the dreams we had. Each year, I grew a little colder, and a little wiser, but I never recovered that little wonderful feeling I got when I was surrounded by others of the Faithful. You know, those who love Christ, who love to dig into truths, and who have a passion to make sure that everyone is loved and wanted. The Bible calls them Neighbors. I called them Family.
A Christian center is not the same as a church in many ways. For one, we don’t have preachers or pastors. We do have moderators, who keep the doors open, the website active, and help guide people to the truths they need when they need it. We also do not hold services. I do host a podcast, and will put out some Q&A’s, but this isn’t about me any more than it’s about you. Again, it’s about family, it always was, and will be again. But while the churches are open from 9 to 12 on Sunday, and an hour on Wednesday, we are always open. Family is like that.
This is about family, which means, it’s about you. Yep, you. Do you have an hour a week? A day a month? I could use some help if you want to volunteer a day or two. At the moment I’m looking for writers. Contact me if you’re interested.
So, in the Faith of Christ, who is known as Jesus, Joshua, and the Branch, welcome.
